Week #36, #37, #38, #39, #40

Hello! Long time, no blog! This long weekend inspired me to finally update with my Pic-A-Day Challenge (which, I guess I have failed now, but I keep going!). I am not presenting it like I usually do cause I have more pictures for certain days, and no pictures for other days. Here goes...

This last week in April I have no pictures! I can tell you that I had an orientation, for the temporary job I am currently working, the Monday & Tuesday of this week. The last 3 days of the work week, I was working for a hygienist in another office in the area.

Day 253

The Mole (aka my car) turned 100,000 miles this Sunday! I had planned to take these pictures all week and was happy I remembered to do so! I took the 99999 mile photo cause my lucky number is 9.

The other picture is of my loaner phone from Ntelos. My old flip phone was breaking at its hinges, so I needed this one to get by until Phil and I decided which phone company to stay with/go to together on one plan. We had decided on staying with Ntelos cause we figured it would be cheaper, but they messed up our paperwork and it was going to take forever for our phone numbers (we wanted to keep) to move to one family plan. My service was ending soon, and they made us mad so we went to Sprint. It ended up being slightly cheaper for us anyway. And it somehow was easier for our phone numbers to switch over to another provider than to keep our old provider and switch the phone numbers over to another plan. Go figure.

Day 254

I worked for yet another hygienist in the area 5 days this week! This is a picture of their old pop machine in the lunch room.

Day 257

A perk of working is that I actually was up to see the sunrise! It was a beautiful, foggy Spring morning without any rain!

This Wednesday, I also met up with the place who is making the cupcakes for our wedding! They are actually going to make us a brownie "cake" for the top of our cupcake tower that Phil & I can cut into at the reception! This relieves me that the place I wanted from the beginning will actually do this for us!

The Friday of this week, I took my local anesthesia exam so I could give anesthetic injections. It was a crazy week for me cause I hadn't studied in a year, but also cause I put this exam off til the last minute (some things never change!) and this was a week out from the deadline in taking it! I got it done though and still I'm waiting for results.

This was my first week working for the hygienist who is out on maternity leave for the next 3 months. They have a crazy computer system, that the chief dentist praises that I have learned how to use faster than anyone else that has worked there. I don't think it is necessarily hard, there are just lots of steps to go through to complete a patient note. The whole office is paperless and the x-rays are digital.

Day 267

Today, Phil & I went to his sister's pinning ceremony for nursing school! So proud of his sister for achieving her goal after so many obstacles! The downside of this ceremony was that it lasted 2 1/2 hours... not fun!

Day 269

How could I have not bought nail polish during these past 5 weeks!? Well, I couldn't pass up the sale stickers of 75% off of course! I need to try them out soon!

Day 279

My parent's anniversary was this past Thursday and they took a mini-vacay! So Phil & I decided to do their grocery shopping for them this Friday and went to the Kroger. I had to go to the little girl's room and when I came out I saw Phil pushing around this buggy full of pork rinds! I thought he'd filled up our buggy, but found out it was one that just had them all in there to sell like that. It was funny anyway, so I got this pic and it has that guy's hilarious face on the sign in it too! I think he wants some pork rinds!

I also used some of those Real Nail Polish Strips by Sally Hansen this evening! They were fairly easy to apply and turned out pretty good! I got the Laced Up strips to go with my current lace obsession!

Day 280

This Saturday evening, Phil & I met up with his parents to go out to eat at the mall. After our meal, his mom and I went to Charming Charlies where I got this watch! It is one with the rubber band that I have been eyeing lately!

Earlier this day, I went with two of my bridesmaids and my friend Lee, who will be marrying us, to order their bridesmaid dresses. We had a great time and went to eat lunch together as well!

---------------------------------------------------------

Also during these past 5 weeks, I have been running every Monday, Zumba-ing 2 days a week, and for the last 2 weeks, I have been kick boxing! I'm feeling pretty good exercise-wise, but just have to get my eating on track, especially on the weekends!

Well, that's all I have for you for now! I hope everyone has had a great holiday weekend and will have an even better short work week!

Week #35

I hope everyone had a happy Easter! I actually have a pic for each day this week, and also slept so much better!

Day 239: Phil and I are pretty much finished registering! We finally found these pint glasses we've been looking for forever and put them on the registry! haha All I have to add is some bedding stuff and maybe a few other decor items that he isn't too interested in!

Day 240: Mom got me this handbag from the new store here at our mall called Charming Charlie! I love this purse cause it's lacey! This place is pretty much awesome and is organized by color! You could spend hours in there and still not see everything! It's pretty overhelming!

Day 241: This is a pic of my orchid sprouting a new little branch! I've had this orchid for about 10 years, and this past year it has grown more than in the previous years combined!

Day 242: Mom and I went to the florist today for a wedding consultation! I know this can be a big expense for a wedding but we are trying to do our best to keep it as low as possible! It is probably one of the most exciting parts of planning for me!

Day 243: Today I had a girl's day out with my friend Heather! We went to Panera Bread to eat lunch/soup, then shopped at Target and Sally Beauty Supply. The main point of going to Sally was to get this crackle nail polish that came out recently! I really wanted grey but all they had was black, white, and this blue color. You can see which I picked. Sorry for the pic of my toe, but I painted under the crackle a yellow color so my toenail isn't really yellow! haha The crackle worked pretty well as long as you worked pretty fast, cause it dries on the brush fast and goops up. Try to make it a thin layer on your nail.

Day 244: Before I left to go to Phil's house today, mom and I colored Easter eggs!!! I LOVE to do this! I got the one where you have to color the egg then glue it and then apply the foil! I think they turned out pretty well, but they got kinda sticky after we hid them in the damp grass on Easter!

Day 245: Phil and I went oot and aboot today to a game resale store where I actually bought the 1st Harry Potter book for $1 (that I will be able to read after the last Harry Potter movie comes out!) and got a computer game as well. We also went to a antique store that had this fantastic (*sarcasm*) inflatable Incredible Hulk that Phil loved. I love the Hulk probably almost just as much as Phil, but where would I put this??? Let me just say that it was nice that it cost $500 cause Phil is probably just as frugal as me, if not more!

I hope everyone has a happy Monday! I get to go to an orientation today and tomorrow for a job that I will be working for the next 3 months! It's only temporary because the hygienist will be out on maternity leave. Yay for working! haha

Week #31

Hey all! I had another busy week this past week, but my weekend was a little more relaxing so this is posted at the regular time! Woohoo!

Day 211: Isn't it lovely that when the calendar says that it's finally Spring that nature decides it is too!? Today the grass looked greener and the little white & purple wild flowers sprouted making my backyard look so happy! Yay!

Day 212: I actually did it folks, I took down the Christmas tree!!! Then I got into full on Spring cleaning mode with the rest of my house!

Day 213: This is a new nail polish I got! I keep seeing these pale shades of pink polishes and had to purchase one for myself! (Peter Piper Picked...) This color is called Easy Going by Sinful Colors. It took about 3 coats before it covered properly and since it's so pale it is not very forgiving for someone who doesn't polish neatly (me)! I like it okay, but may try finding a better color next time. Also, I got to work today at a dental office I've worked at before! It's nice to know that they'll call me up when they need someone and found out they want me to work a week for them in May!

Day 214: Got another call this morning from another dental office saying they need me! Feels great to be loved! haha It had been raining this day, but the sun came out so strong when I was driving home that I needed to put on my sunglasses for the first time this year!

Day 215: So I went to a "working interview" for the pediatric clinic that I regular interviewed with before. They say that they work so differently than a regular dental clinic that they wanted me to come in and make sure it would be a good fit for all. They are totally paperless, so I had to get used to their computer system and what they enter into that system, which was the major part that was different. The other dental hygienist there said that I did really well with that cause it took most of them a lot longer than it did me in just that one day. I hope that will make me look good, not only that but all my other qualities as well!

Day 216: My television in my living room has been on the blink for the last month or so, and with that is my TiVo, which you know I can't live without! So I've been recording all my shows to watch on my parents TV. Anyway, Phil came over this weekend and said he wanted to mess with it. He turns the TV on and it is working perfectly fine. Just him looking at it. This is not the only time this has happened, and it is pretty weird. Also, I actually ran at the Y today for the first time since I hurt my ankle! I didn't try to push myself cause I was afraid of hurting it, but I did pretty good!

Day 217: Today was my daddy's birthday!!! It just so happened that Phil and I were getting some more free cupcakes (and brownies this time) from another bakery for our wedding tasting. This is a pic of the brownies, which may look okay and all but they did not taste good. They were more like cake (and you know by now Phil does not like cake), but they were not good tasting cake, and the cupcakes weren't good either. So this was a FAIL on being dad's birthday treats, but luckily Phil and I made brownie cupcakes (brownie mix poured into cupcake tins and baked) the night before that turned out deliciously! Too bad we ate all of them before I forgot to get a picture of them!

Hope everyone had a good weekend, I did even though it was entirely too cold for me!

Week #21

This week was pretty busy, like I told you on Friday! Here are some more details about it!

Day 141: So I broke down and got a 2011 planner. Well, it's not like I don't love them or anything, but ever since I got out of school I didn't think I would need such a thing! Anyway, it'll help me with wedding planning and it was on sale for only $2.48 at Target!

Day 142: I kept close tabs on my phone (my old Samsung, I want a new one soon!) all day because the dentist I interviewed with the week before told me multiple times before leaving his office that he would call me and let me know on Monday. Did I know Monday? No. So unprofessional. I called Tuesday afternoon. Did I get the job? No. Am I terribly upset? No. But do I need a job and money? Yes. Sigh.

Day 143: On Sunday I awoke with a pain in my neck. I thought maybe I had a swollen lymph node or something. I tried applying a warm compress to it multiple times a day and taking Ibuprofen, but by Tuesday it was still getting bigger. I went to the doc and he said it was an infected hair follicle. I guess it is really close to my baby hairs on my neck, but how did it get infected? So now I am on antibiotics again.

Day 144: Decided to switch over to another purse that was bigger. It's amazing how good it feels to go from a small purse jam packed with everything to a nice, big one with plenty of room to spare!

Day 145: Today was my momma's birthday! I took her out to eat and we picked out some cupcakes! Top Left: Vanilla Bean - Bottom Left: Key Lime with raspberry filling - Middle 2: Chocolate with chocolate icing and chocolate filling (my fave of the day!) - Right 2: Italian Cream.

Day 146: Painted my fingernails She's So Glitzy by Milani - probably my most favorite pink polish!

Day 147: Saturday was supposed to be our tasting at the venue we want for our wedding. But on Friday the guy called me back (after I had called to make sure we were still on for the next day) to say that he had something "come up" and had to reschedule. That he had tried calling me many times this past week to let me know. I asked what phone number he had for me and it was wrong. I don't get it really cause we had talked on the phone multiple times before. Maybe he forgot and was making an excuse? Should I even have my wedding at a place like this? Hmmmm... well, I rescheduled for this coming Saturday so we'll see. I also went to Phil's work party this day. It was short and sweet - eat food, give door prizes, mingle, leave. *picture shows schedule in my new planner!*

Now I have a busy upcoming week! Tell ya all about it next Monday!

Week #18

So this is the crazy week that led up to Christmas! I hope everyone had a happy holiday!

Day 120: I got me some Kroger sushi to eat today! That's really all I did, but it was delicious! haha! My favorite is the salmon with avacado roll.

Day 121: My phone woke me up at 6:30am to the dental office that I temporarily work for calling in to see if I could work! Yay! Working this whole day helped me out for Christmas so much! I just wish I could work more often cause I love cleaning teeth! This pic I took of myself in my car on my lunch break. Notice the hair sticking out from my goggles!

Day 122: Phil and I had made some mint chocolate Oreo truffles this past weekend (we are pretty addicted to them!) and I couldn't wait until Christmas to eat'em! So I snuck one... shhhh!

Day 123: Mom and I did some last minute Christmas shopping. And it had been a while, so I painted my nails all sparkly and Christmas-y!

Day 124: On Christmas Eve Eve, my uncle got into town from Atlanta! I went to the movie "Little Fockers" with him and my parents, then ate at the Thai House Restaurant, and got me a couple more books in my "Aurora Teagarden Series" by Charlaine Harris to read! This pic is of me and my Uncle Abbie by the tree at Pullman Square. Later that night, my best friend Adam was in town so he picked me up and we went to Jolly Pirates for some donuts and scratch-offs! It was great to drive around and catch up!

Day 125: Christmas Eve! I went over to Phil's grandmother's house to spend this day with his family. This is a pic of his nephews opening all their presents! They had such a good Christmas! After we left his grandmothers, we went to his other grandparents house to visit. Then, we went back to his house before heading to my house! We did things a little differently on Christmas Eve at my house this year. Usually we only open one gift, but this year we opened them all! It was pretty crazy for my family to do this, but we knew we could do it this way or lug all those presents to my aunt's house in the morning! It was a great day!

Day 126: Christmas Day! And it was a white one! We went to my Aunt Cheryl's house to eat and open presents. It was nice that we had opened most of the presents the night before because we got to enjoy watching my little cousin Asyra open all hers, like in this picture! Don't you love her Christmas dress?!

Well, that's it folks! Christmas is over and New Year's is upon us! Hope your Christmas was merry & bright, but it's finally time to relax!

Week #12

Welcome to Week 12 of my Pic-A-Day challenge! This week I got better with the help of the antibiotics I'm taking so there is a little more variety in the pictures I took this week! Enjoy!

Day 78: Still feeling sick when I wake up in the morning since that is when my nose is crusty and my throat is dry. In the afternoons I feel better and on this Sunday Phil and I got some Christmas shopping done! This evening I started losing my voice though.

Day 79: My voice was partially gone today, but I felt better. So it made for a good day for mom and I to clean out my old closet from when I was little and I sort through clothes I wanted to keep and ones I wanted to give away. In this closet I found my Lite Brite and got a little too into playing with it again. This is my creation I present to you!

Day 80: I found a new gum I love! Extra's Dessert Delights is amazing! Although it does not have Xylitol in it, it is still sugar-free! The Key Lime Pie flavor is definately my favorite with the Mint Chocolate Chip coming in as a close second! I thought I would like the Strawberry Shortcake flavor the best, but it tastes a little weird to me so it is in last.

Day 81: Cut my nails and painted them black today. This is kinda a strange shot of my hand.

Day 82: Mom and I went shopping today and I wore my new ankle boots for the first time! They were really comfortable, but I would like to where them with something besides jeans where you could see them a little better!

Day 83: Went to see Phil this Friday and got some little tin candy cups to put the Oreo Truffles we are going to make for Thanksgiving (and Christmas)! Mmmmm... I cannot wait!

Day 84: Got a new Brides magazine to read, along with the next book in my Sweet Magnolia series by Sherryl Woods. I got the book at the flea market for only $3!

Hope everyone had a great week! And I wanted to give a birthday shout-out to one of my BFFs, Jeffs! I don't think he's ever read this blog, but Happy Birthday to him anyway!

Week #2

Week 2 of my pic-a-day challenge! You can see the first week here.

Day 8: The rainbow of lovely books at the bookstore! Now to pick which ones not to buy!

Day 9: This was the last pop I had left in my refrigerator and I'm not buying anymore... at least for now, but everytime I have them at home in my fridge, I drink way too much.

Day 10: This is where I spent most of Tuesday. I took a 3 hour nap and read my book forever right here! BTW that's Jambi in the plaid pjs!

Day 11: Mom and I went to Ashland today to visit with my babysitter I had when I was younger. This was the temperature it was... yuck!

Day 12: I had my very first interview as an RDH Thursday! Keeping my fingers crossed! I'll know Tuesday if I got the job but there were other people being interviewed.

Day 13: So, on my last trip to the drugstore I picked up some lovely new nail polish by Revlon in the color Minted. I knew I had to have it cause I've been looking through bridal magazines like crazy and ran across these shoes I only wish I had enough money to afford! They are Tiffany's/Audrey-inspired by Hey Lady and can be found here!
Day 14: Phil and I went to his grandma's house again this Saturday. We thought we were going to help her spread some gravel around her huge gorgeous fish pond, but she decided to do it herself during the week before. This is a picture of some of her ginormous coy fish... so pretty!
  • Hope everyone had a wonderful holiday weekend! Wasn't the weather awesome?!?!

Just venting a bit...

My life seems totally upside down and sideways and longways and slantways and any other way you can think of! Anyway, I really wish I could just start the year over. I would definately take going through the whole last semester of school just if things just went the way I wanted them to. Two months ago everything was perfect to me in my own little world, then it all came crumbling down. This was the time I was looking forward to the most (graduating and going home) and all I am now is confused to what has happened.

I really am being a huge baby over all that is going on. I feel sorry for myself, and I hate that. I am feeling rejected, overwhelmed, and that the world is ganging up on me. I just need to get over it. I need to breathe, stay positive, and know that everything is going to turn out okay.

Thank you for listening, or I guess reading. I just needed to get it out there for now... and that I can't get this stupid nail polish to come off!

BSDH

I am officially a graduate for the last time!

My graduation was held on Satuday, May 15th at 8:30am... too early, I agree! The day before we had our graduation practice at 7:30am and that is what time we had to get there Saturday before graduation. Both were very long and hectic days filled with visits from family, getting a mani/pedi with my roomie for the last time, a pointless banquet with crappy food, packing up the trailer, good-byes to friends (sad), and good-bye to Morganhole (yessssss... finally!).

The week before graduation we had a cookout at my friend Kristen's house. It was great to hang out with my closest DH girls for (almost) the last time before graduation. We ate, played some games, and burned our DH books that we hated the most!

Now to rest up and prepare myself for the rest of my life!

Going for the Gold

I haven’t blogged for a while, but during the whole snow-in I blogged a lot so I figured I am even. I have been sorta busy the last week. We had a stupid Dental Law Exam yesterday. And I am probably calling it stupid because I failed it the first go around, but it was stupid. It was a free exam, as in no money needed, except that since I failed it the first time and had to pay $20 so I could take it again. I could take it again immediately after I failed it. I could look at what answers I missed (I missed 3 that were true/false), then take the same exact test immediately after. I passed, of course, the second time but they got my damn money. Roomie and I thought we deserved a pedicure after this stupid exam. Now I have pretty purple toenails with a flowers on them. It’s nice to know that something so simple can make me so happy.

As you can see I changed my layout. Thanks to Miranda for giving me the html for the 3-column design! I changed my background too. Thanks to Jennifer and Angie for leading me to it! I have always thought that I wanted to learn how to quilt. I LOVE QUILTS! My great-great grandmother had made me a quilt when I was a baby and Phil’s grandmother quilts all the time. Maybe I’ll ask her if she’ll teach me. I think it would be better than my attempts at knitting. I only knitted ¼ of a scarf then lost interest and forgot how.

I went home last weekend and went bowling for a family birthday party. This was a new experience to bowl with the family because we usually just sit around, eat, and play board games. My 2 ½ year old cousin is getting so big! Everyone was around eating birthday cake when she says “I am so happy to see all of you today!” and then preceded to say everyone’s name! Too cute! It’s not like Phil and I get to see her very often so when she said our names ,with no prompting, it melted my heart. Valentine’s Day was great too! Phil went the “semi-homemade” route like I did and put together a picture album of picture of us together. He also got me the book “Animal Farm” (one of his faves) so I could read it too. I had painted him a mug at The Wow Factory with fishes on it. And I put a little furry little “Luv Puff” stuffed animal inside.

So I have been watching very little of the Olympics. Every time I turn the TV onto the channel, it is going to a commercial. And me hating commercials most of the time (thanks to at-home TiVo usage) likes to turn the channel and watch multiple shows at one time. So by the time one show grabs my attention, I forget about the Olympics. I did watch all of the opening ceremony. KD Lang was Awesome with a capital A. And I loved the tree scene with all the people dancing. I have caught a few curling “matches” but have not been able to figure out the scoring or anything. I refuse to look up the rules because I like trying to figure it out. Info Tidbit: The 2002 Winter Olympics is where I first heard Josh Groban sing and have been hooked ever since.

Roomie and I watched “The Hangover” for the second time on Thursday. That movie cracks me up with everything that each character says. This makes it one of my favorite movies of all time. I still wanna know where the chicken came from. We rented “The Time Travelers Wife” at Blockbuster yesterday and watched it. It was soooo good! It got kinda confusing, but in a good way that keeps you thinking. Tonight we watched “Julie & Julia” and I loved that movie too! It is what inspired me to blog right now! We are watching so many movies now because I brought my DVD player from home!

I think that is all I had to catch up on… I’ll need to remember this for next time and won’t make my posts so long! Have a good week!

I ♥ CVS

This has been a super win week for CVS! I went on Saturday and found that a lot of their makeup was 75% off with your CVS card! I bought some makeup I'd like to try but not for the usual $6 price. Then today I went with a couple of my friends and got some more. Everything in this pic was under two bucks each. I love eyeshadow. I love bright colors and all shades of colors no matter if they look good on me or not. I am pretty much a color freak anyway. I feel sorry for Phil having me pick out all the different colors to paint our walls when we get a place to live together. It'll look like Rainbow Bright lived there or something!

Here is a pic of the nail polish I got painted on:

Notice:

#1 How I painted way out of the actual nail on my pinky.

#2 How I leave the stickers on my laptop (may need'em someday, who knows?).

#3 My pretty engagement ring (almost been a year since Phil proposed!).

#4 How I use a regular mouse on a laptop cause I hate the built-in one.

#5 The dollar in the background, which actually has written on it one of my patient's email addresses cause it was the only thing in my pocket I had to write on. Now I can't spend it without feeling bad that my patient's email address is actually on it! I guess I could mark it out.

#6 My mousepad I've had forever. It is one of the picture ones you can make at Walmart that my friend Leslee got me in high school :)

Question: Anyone ever use mousse blush before? I never have and was hoping for some tips! Also, two of the eyeshadows I got are cream eyeshadow and they crease really bad. I know you can get a primer to help for like $17 on Sephora.com but seeing that I like 75% off makeup, I don't really want to spend that much.

My Story (of the past couple years) Condensed - Part 1

I am a born-again student when it comes to going to college. I first attended Marshall University in August of 2000 and graduated in December of 2004 with a degree in biology. I had all intentions of going to vet school, but [fortunately] the vet school gods did not accept me 2 years in a row. During that time, I worked for the local Animal ER which deterred me from trying the third time. I am glad I found out I didn’t want to do something before I had to pay for it. My only problem was figuring out what I did want to do since I had wanted to be a veterinarian since kindergarten and didn‘t have a back-up plan.

I knew I liked working with my hands. I knew I didn’t want to be the person in-charge. I knew I would like to work by myself, but also be able to help people. And I knew I did not want to work in a hospital. I had to think of things that interested me, preferably something in the medical-related field. I kept having the thought of going to see my Papa in Wayne after getting my teeth cleaned and him whistling and saying “I can’t see those teeth are so bright!”. Then I thought of how I would always trick my mom after coming home from a dentist’s appointment (something I still do to this day!) by telling her I had a cavity, which in reality I’ve never had one, but she still had the same astonished reaction every time. I always loved going to the dentist most likely for these reasons. This led me to going to dental hygiene school.

It was all a whirlwind after that decision. I remember deciding whether I wanted to go into an associate’s program for 2 years or get another baccalaureate’s degree and go for only 3 years. I still can’t remember what made me stay in West Virginia, probably in-state tuition and the fact I love WV, but I applied to WVU pretty much right at the deadline. I also remember having to do some extra stuff cause I turned in all my paperwork so late. I got excepted as an outstanding sophomore in the fall of 2007.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
TODAY: Had my last final of the semester! Missed 22 out of 150 and still got a 96%. Please tell me how that happens, but I'm really not complaining! I went to Black Bear to eat with Rachel and Kristen for lunch. I have to study for boards tonight. I really want ice cream badly. And tell me how my nail polish always chips a couple hours after I paint my nails?
