Week #19

So this week I'm sort of cheating on my Pic-A-Day challenge. Instead of posting a pic of something I did for each day of the week, I am showing off some of my Christmas presents! I am too spoiled for Christmas by both my family and Phil's family and consider myself extremely blessed to have them. I would be happy if I just got hugs :-) There are also a couple pics from NYE and New Year's Day.

Day 127: I got Michael Jackson The Experience for the Wii! This weekend we tried it out and had a lot of fun learning some of Jacko's dance moves! It's pretty funny cause it comes with the MJ sparkley glove, but the packaging that it comes in says "IMPORTANT: Glove is not to be used during gameplay". I find this strange as well as the fact that the glove, when worn, feels like it is not fit for a human to wear.

Day 128: One of the gifts from my parents was a DH (dental hygienist) bead to add to my bead bracelet!

Day 129: Phil's parents got me a dental nutcracker! Possibly called a Toothcracker? ...nah! He's very cute and holds a toothbrush in one hand and a tooth in the other!

Day 130: Phil got me some loose leaf tea from the new tea store that opened up here! It is pretty pricey so I had put off buying it myself, and hadn't found it anywhere else. I've had a little tea pot that I have been wanting to use for a while now, so finally I can! And it's mint chocolate chip flavored!

Day 131: Phil's grandmother got me a sewing machine! I couldn't believe it! She is going to teach me how to quilt but I never thought I'd have a machine of my own to use! I am going to go watch the instructional dvd it comes with right after I finish this post!

Day 132: For New Year's Eve, Phil and I went to the dog track and casino with his parents for the 3rd year in a row. Unfortunately, they do not allow you to bring in a camera so I got this picture of my pretty, sparkley, silver eyeshadow before I went.

Day 133: Happy New Year! Phil got me this baby bottle of champagne to ring in the new year with! I doctored it up a bit to be a little more festive!

I wanted to post a few more pics of some gifts I got for Christmas:
  • Phil got me this beautiful necklace and earrings.
  • My best bud Adam got me a giraffe mug with a giraffe actually in the the mug! So cute!
  • I got some Michael Jackson CDs including Off The Wall, Dangerous, and his new CD called Michael all from Phil and his family. I also got Josh Groban's new CD called Illuminations from my parents.
  • I got some random DVDs including Mr. Bean's Holiday, Square Pegs (the complete series), The Sound of Music (only ever had it on VHS), and My Fair Lady from my Aunt Cheryl and my other aunt, uncle, and cousins.

And finally, a Christmas pic of me and Phil being dorks decked out in our red and green! ...planned of course! I can officially declare the Christmas posts over until Christmas 2011! And Happy New Year again!

The Day We Didn't Attend Jeff's Crawdad Boil

This installment of "The Day..." is a continuation of "The Day Jeffs Got Married".

The day we didn't attend Jeff's crawdad boil was also the day we unfortunately had to be out of our hotel room early and also the day we were driving to San Antonio for a couple days. This did not go well with the day after Jeffs got married as well as the day Sars and I were the most hungover we had ever been in our lives.

I think Sars was a little worse off than me so she lay in the back seat of the unmoving PT Cruiser while I sat up front wondering how we were ever going to get out of hotel parking lot without the world spinning and chunks flying. Fortunately, Ad was not bad off and was able to take the wheel. We got out of the parking lot slowly and did a lot of just driving around. The crawdad boil was something we could only dream of in the past 9 years in getting a reunion with the Burch family, but now because we wouldn't be good company, did not make it to the event. We did make it to the Sonic though, and somehow randomly found the house Jeff and his family lived in when they first moved to Houston but had never showed us how to get there. It was a weird thing.

After the crawdad boil was over, and Jeffs, Jenn, and their friends were ready to caravan, we left for San Antonio. I thought this was a little strange cause it was like we were on their honeymoon with them, but not really since they went on it a couple weeks later. The night we got there we went down to the River Walk to eat dinner, then we stayed the night with a friend of Adam's, and the next day went to the Alamo and shopped around the River Walk and went shopping for some cowboy boots.

We went back to Houston that evening. We ate at a fantastic sushi place, cause sushi is our thing, and stayed at Jeff and Jenn's house so we could get up and leave early the next morning.
The whole trip was so much fun minus the hangover part, but I would do it all again in an instant!

The Day Jeffs Got Married

Jeffs is one of my best friends I've known forever. So when I found out Jeffs was getting married, I was super excited! Not only meant that he was happy and found the love of his life, but it also meant a spring break trip to Houston with my most favorite people ever: Jeffs, Sars, and Ad! The spring break of 2009 started off with me flying out of the Pittsburgh airport. I was super excited to get this party started! When I got there Sars was waiting for me, then Ad was picking us up in our super not cool PT Cruiser rental. From there we rushed to the rehearsal dinner. We got to see Jeff's family who we hadn't seen in about 9 years since they moved from Huntington!

The next day was the wedding. We woke up and ate some Texas-shaped waffles... this was the whole reason why I booked this particular hotel, and that it was close to where the reception was held. It was a sad day cause our little boy was growing up, but a happy one as well. Ad got to be one of the groomsmen/number brother while Sars and I were wet and cold. haha! It wasn't supposed to be cold in Houston!

After the wedding was the open bar... errrrr I mean reception! There was food, dancing, and lots of picture taking with our mouths open (it's our version of the jazz hands some of my bloggy friends have adopted)! Plus, as a wedding gift to Jeffs, we got a replacement Jolly Pirate donut from a place down there as we were driving to the reception.

The after party was at our hotel, which also turned out to be where the bride's (Jenn) family was staying and some of Jeff and Jenn's friends from school (WVU) were too. There was food, games, more picture taking and drinking, where Sars, with all my better judgement and knowledge out the window, talked me into taking shots of Scotch.

The next day will forever be known as "The Day we didn't attend Jeff's crawdad boil" and will be continued in the next Friday installment of "The Day...".

Graduation Here I Come!

Today was officially my last day of school EVER! For the two whole ridiculous finals I had, I got 100% on both of them. Too easy, I'm tellin' ya!

Graduation is in 11 days! Woo hoo!

Phil and his parents are hopefully coming up this weekend to help me move alot of my big things out of the trailer with their truck. I'm hoping we'll go do some shopping first and take our time. I don't get to see his parents too often since I'm stuck up here and when I get to go home, my parents try to steal as much time as possible.

Since Friday my mom is officially retired! So it's kinda like my mom and I are graduating together! haha

The weekend after next is my graduation! Then the weekend after that one I get to go to the beach with my parents and Phil! I cannot wait to relax!

Update: My formal was so much fun! I feel like everyone was pretty much drunk the entire time, but it made for some good stories later on! haha The Purple Jesus drink we made was really good, but sadly I didn't snap a picture of it! Here is a picture of me and Phil in our masquerade masks I made instead:

And here's a picture of me and my six lovely DH friends before going to the formal:

Now I better go pack! Have I told you how much I can't wait to get out of this town???

What I wanna go do is go buy Anoop's CD that comes out tomorrow!

Wickedly Good

So, I had started reading "Lord of the Flies" recently, then after the third chapter I decided I wanted to read Charlaine Harris' book "Dead and Gone" instead. Now I really can't wait until True Blood comes back on!

Today my roomie and I made a trip to the local liquor store to pick us up some Everclear. We are planning to have a pre-party shindig at our place before our dental hygiene formal this Saturday. We are making some punch called Purple Jesus. Sounded yummy, and we decided we wanted purple drinks since the dental hygiene color is purple. Anyway, I have never made a punch with grain alcohol in it so I hope it turns out okay and not nasty like some I have tasted. Here is the recipe we are using. I'll let ya know how it turns out and get some pics too.

In other news, I am going on a tiny trip tomorrow. For a my independent study class, we are going to Snowshoe to spend the night then get up and go to some schools to teach them about good brushing and flossing. This program is called Lessons in a Lunch Box. I love a good sleepover so this will be fun.

AND the Glee premiere was on last night and it was so good! I love Idina Menzel and had no idea she was going to be a guest on the show! She played Elphaba in Wicked and Maureen in RENT (my favorite!) on Broadway AND is married to Taye Diggs (luck-y!)! She is gorgeous and has a beautiful voice too!

And now I will leave you with this tidbit about myself: I love the Kroger sushi!
