Week #32

Happy Monday everyone! I hope it is going okay for you so far! I hope some part of my week will make you smile!

Day 218: This Sunday, Phil and I sat around and watched our collection of Jack Ass movies and finally watched the newest one. In a lot of ways I cannot stand to watch these movies, but in part they are quite hilarious and I cannot take my eyes away! haha No matter what, it's always nice to be able to laugh together!

Day 219: Today, I went to the Y and ran! I also finished up watching the Square Pegs DVDs I got for Christmas. Has anyone else ever watched this TV series? It is like totally 80s, totally! I had never heard of it before I got it as a gift, but it was a lot of fun to watch! I believe this was one of Sarah Jessica Parker's first roles.

Day 220: Mom and I went to another florist's shop today to get a feel for how they would be for the wedding. The woman was really nice there and I have a feeling she is who we are going to go with! From there, we went to Hobby Lobby and picked up a few things including these (pictured) that we are going to use as table numbers. What do ya think?

Day 221: I spent the better part of this evening going over our gift registry and figuring out everything we still need to register for. I printed off this checklist and compared it to what we already have bought/registered.

Day 222: Today, I got called into temp work at a new dentist's office (that's #5)! Their dental hygienist hurt her arm which is so sad considering her line of work, but I'm glad I got an oppurtunity to fill-in somewhere new and meet new people. My aunt, uncle, cousin's wife & daughter (Asyra) left today to see my cousin graduate from basic training in Texas! This pic is Asyra and mom playing the 'scrub your ears' game she made up!

Day 223: I went to Phil's house this weekend. This evening Phil and I went to Point Pleasant to eat at a new place. Then, we went back to his house to relax. This pic is of Phil's mom's dog, Baby. Baby loves me and cuddled up on my lap tonight and went to sleep. I sure do miss having a doggy!

Day 224: Phil's nephew Alec turned 6 years old the day before, but today we, along with Phil's parents, took him to Chuck E. Cheese's to eat pizza, play games, and get prizes! He had a blast! After, Phil and I went to the bookstore where I finally got "Dead in the Family" by Charlaine Harris since it just came out in paperback! I cannot wait to go read it!

Have a good week!

The Day I Found My Sunshine

It was the beginning of August 1995 and as an early birthday present my parents took me to get my dream dog: a golden retriever. I was so excited! We went over to Ohio where there was a breeder dad found in the newspaper. There were only 3 puppies left - 1 boy and 2 girls, and the breeder was going to keep the boy. So, I went into this fenced in area and two of the puppies were not interested in me at all, but this one sweet fluffy red girl puppy ran up to me and started giving me kisses! I knew I had found my dream dog and she had picked me!

On our way home, we were thinking up names and the song "You Are My Sunshine" popped in my head and it was perfect! Mom wanted to name her Britches for some reason (must be a Wayne County thing haha!), so I let that be her middle name.

My cousins met her when we got home and decided they were going back tomorrow to get her sister! The next day I went with them and they got the last puppy and named her Sugar. And since my cousins lived right next door to me, we got to raise the sisters together. My cousin Zach and I used to sit outside with a puppy training book and taught our pups all kinds of things.
My Sunshine was around until early August 2009 when we had to put her to sleep because she had cancer. She was definately my dream dog in every way possible, as well as my best friend and I miss her so much.

You are my Sunshine,

My only Sunshine

You make me happy,

When skies are gray

You'll never know dear,

How much I love you

Please don't take my Sunshine away

My Littlest Cousin Turns 1-2-3!

Sunday was my little cousin Asyra's third birthday! She is the first baby in my "close by" family to be born and I never knew how much I would love her. I always wanted to be an aunt, but since I'm the only child, she is as close as I will get to having a neice by blood. Phil's nephews already know me as Aunt Mariah and that makes me happy :-) My cousin, Zach, was always my "little" cousin cause he was a couple years younger than me, but now he has a Asyra and she is the littlest to me now! Well anyway, Friday evening we celebrated her birthday with pizza, lots of presents, and a Dora cake!

Asyra's new love is bathing suits! She was allowed to wear what she wanted to her day care for her birthday and she wanted to wear a bikini! Then for her birthday party she wore this cute ballerina bathing suit. She got the princess shoes for her birthday and looks so grown up!

Here I was trying to get a good pic of her with her cake, but instead got a sneaky one of her with icing on her face after taking a bite out of the side of the it!

This is a pic of me and Pablo the Chihuahua with the same facial expressions.

And finally, a gratuitous pic of me and Phil after the party!

Gum - Good For Your Teeth!

My personal favorite gum is Wrigley's Orbit. My favorite flavors of this gum are the Sweet Mint, Cinnamint, and Berry Red. One reason I like them is because the flavor lasts for a long time. You are supposed to chew your gum after a meal for 20 minutes to stimulate saliva production (neutralizes the pH in your mouth) and to reduce plaque build-up, therefore reducing the risk of tooth decay! There is a trick to this though: the gum you chew must be sugarfree gum! Another reason I like Orbit is that *some* of the flavors have Xylitol as an ingredient. Xylitol is a sugar substitute. The bacteria in your mouth that make cavities think that it really is sugar so they eat it but can't digest the xylitol and end up dying. I *think* the Orbit Gum that contains Xylitol are the packages that are American Dental Association (ADA) Accepted. I know for sure that my picks of Sweet Mint (even though the picture above doesn't show it) and Cinnamint have the ADA Seal and include Xylitol as an ingredient, but I'm not sure about the Berry Red. All Orbit Gum is sugarfree though.

So when you are at the grocery store check-out, make sure you see three things on your gum's packaging to make sure it is good for your teeth:
  1. ADA Accepted
  2. Sugarfree
  3. Check the ingredients for Xylitol

Also, Xylitol can be life-threatening to animals who consume it, so keep it out of your furry friend's reach! Call your vet right away if your pet ingests it!

So now I have to write 7 facts about myself and give this award to 7 other bloggers!

7 Little Known Facts About Me
