PPQ: Autumn Morning

Autumn Morning

There is a hazy cloud hanging low to the ground
In sight when awakened by the songs
Of birds outside my tent that is warm
With body heat
The Autumn smell is all around
The trees are so vibrant
With shades of crimson, orange, and gold
The pines’ brilliance surviving the cold
Bundled up in layers of clothes
I walk out into the crisp air
That touches my cheeks and nose
I am the only one around

Week #6

Here is the long-awaited (maybe) Pic-A-Day post I have to share with you today! 6 weeks down only 46 left to go!

Day 36: It was rainy as I drove home from Phil's house this Sunday evening and I got inspired to take a picture while listening to Delilah.

Day 37: So I've decided that I'm going to make a t-shirt quilt. This is what happens when you have too much time on your hands. Also, see Day 39. Anyways, this is one of my very favorite t-shirts, as you might be able to tell from the holes all over it. This night I got out all my old t-shirts I wanted to use for the quilt, but I didn't have the heart to cut this one up! *Also note it says "THE Band of the Mountain State"!

Day 38: Pretty day out and the ferns wanted their picture taken.

Day 39: I'm also going to make a yarn wreath for Halloween in my spare time. Don't judge.

Day 40: Thursday I went to this dental office, with the cool-looking brick, for an orientation to the clinic I would be working at the following Monday (today in real time). This was only a temporary job for the one day, which actually turned into half-a-day... booooo! At least I was making money and not crafts! See Days 37 & 39.

Day 41: I made Phil put on this hat at The Walmarts (as the lovely people around these parts like to call it) and pose for me. I think it suits him... or not.

Day 42: Saturday was pumpkin buying/carving day for me and Phil! We found a greenhouse nearby, but my dream is to pick them from the actual field. Anyone know where a place like that is close to me???

Thank you for patiently waiting. Now to go sell my soul to SimCity once again.

Oooops!

Soooo... I had planned to put all my pictures together for my pic-a-day week #6 tonight, but Phil got me SimCity to play and I got all wrapped up in it and forgot all about my pics! (sorry, run on sentence!) Now it's too late to do it cause I gotta get up in the morning to go to a temporary job I got for the day! Will try to post later this evening or tomorrow! Hope your Monday isn't too bad!

The Day I Learned How To Ride A Bike

It wasn't until I was in 3rd grade that I decided I wanted to learn how to ride a bike (without the training wheels). It seemed like all the kids in my class had already learned and I was starting to feel a little left out. So I went home and told my dad that I wanted to try. We went out on the street in front of my house, and that is where I finally learned how to ride a two-wheeler!

I was so proud of myself until my neighbor, who also happened to be my 3rd grade teacher, came walking by and saw me. The next day in school she announced to the whole class that I had learned how to ride my bike. I was so embarrassed and could hear the snickering around the room. I did take great pride though that this is what was known about me and that I was not the kid who sat behind me and stapled his own thumb on purpose!

As I look back on it, I still don't think my teacher was trying to brag on me in a good way. She always was not very nice, even when she followed me to middle school. At least I wasn't in her class then! And then there was her schnauzer that used to bark and chase me when I played outside...

  • When did you learn to ride a bike?
  • Do you have any embarrassing classroom stories?
  • Did you have a certain mean ole teacher?

Week #5

Week 5 of my Pic-a-Day challenge is here! Go here to see previous challenge posts!

Day 29: Today we had a family birthday party, that we have a few times a year, to celebrate mine, my uncle's, Phil's, and my cousin's wife, Arianna's birthday! It gives us a good excuse to get together and catch up with eachother even though we live right next door. My little cousin, Asyra, is way too cute. She has a little 3 year old crush on Phil. She kept saying "I like Phil.", "I missed Phil, I was worried about him." and "He's part of our family.", it was heartwarming. I loved how she sat in my lap and cuddled me while we all sat around making our family fantasy football teams. It makes me that much happier that I can be around home and see her more often.

Day 30: I made a delicious meal for me and my parents! I had wanted something noodley and creamy and this is what I came up with. I sauteed some peppers, onions, and carrots. Added the broccoli and cauliflower from the microwave bag (didn't have fresh) and a can of diced tomatoes. I then poured in a jar of the Ragu Light Alfredo Sauce and added half a box of cooked macaroni noodles. I seasoned with garlic, dill, salt, and pepper! I had some leftover for my lunch the next couple of days too.

Day 31: I've heard other people complaining about these so called "stink bugs" this year, but it wasn't until about a week ago that they started to come inside our house! I found like 5 in our kitchen the other day... ewww!

Day 32: Today my mom, aunt, and I went to an estate sale near our house. I've always wondered what this house looked like inside so this gave me an excuse to find out! Mom and I ended up leaving with this director's chair and Marshall helmet clock! Can't wait until I have a house to decorate!

Day 33: Mom and I went to buy some of her favorite flowers, mums! I love them myself, especially the rusty orangey ones like these.

Day 34: Some Fridays I drive to Phil's house to spend the weekend with him and his family. I always look forward to the drive on nice days so I get to listen to 99.9 FM cause it usually plays a good mix of old and new songs. Sundays, when I drive home, I like to listen to Delilah no matter how cheesey it can be!

Day 35: Phil and I decided to take a drive to Point Pleasant, WV which isn't too far from his house. This is the home of the Mothman and the Mothman statue! I found out that the weekend before we were there that they had the Mothman festival... too bad we missed that! You can learn about the Mothman here, there was even a movie called "The Mothman Prophecies" based on it!

  • So I had a pretty good week! Did you do anything fun this past week?
